Ken Butler III Anticipates Solid Mansfield Finish

October 6, 2005 (Atlanta, GA)

Ken Butler III returns to the USAR Hooters ProCup Championship Series this weekend for the Alan Kulwicki Memorial Lucas Oil 250 at the Mansfield Motorsports Speedway in Mansfield, OH. Butler looks to continue climbing the championship standings after his 20th place finish in the first race at Jennerstown Speedway two weeks ago that moved him up to 24th in the points race.

As this race will be the first time KBIII has competed at this facility, he and the crew tested at ½-mile, high-banked oval track two weeks ago and found a competitive setup for the No. 99 Aaron’s Dream Machine. Several top teams were testing at the track that day and Butler’s times were in line with most all of the competitors.

“I am really looking forward to Mansfield.” Butler said, “The Dream Machine was a little off when we unloaded for the test, but Danny (Crafton) and the guys made some changes that really helped me get in and out of the turns and that helped my times. I don’t know if we can get the pole, but we should start up front and race well.”

There are at least 43 cars attempting to make the 36-car field for Saturday’s race and KBIII is without a provisional, so he will have to make the race on his qualifying time. Qualifying is scheduled for Saturday, October 8 at 3:30 PM.

The Alan Kulwicki Memorial Lucas Oil 250 is scheduled for Saturday, October 8 at 6:00 PM (EDT) and can be seen tape-delayed on SPEED October 15 at 10:00 PM (EDT).
