 CRAFTON RETURNS TO PIT BOX

July 18, 2005 (Sherrill’s Ford, N.C.)

Michael Waltrip Racing, Inc. (MWR) of Sherrill’s Ford, NC announced today that Danny Crafton assumes the crew chief for the USAR Hooters ProCup Series No. 99 Aaron’s Dream Machine driven by Ken Butler III. Crafton will continue his responsibilities as the electrical/mechanical foreman for MWR, while also sharing his time as Butler’s crew chief. Crafton has not been directly involved with the first-year ProCup team until now, but is looking forward to the challenge.

“MWR has the resources in place and the talent behind the wheel with Ken,” Crafton said. “He’s a bright kid. With the right encouragement, we are going to have some fun and closeout his rookie season with solid finishes.”

“I really look forward to working with Danny.” Driver Ken Butler III said, “We tested together for the first time last week at Southern National Speedway and he has a wealth of knowledge. He really helped me get around that track and understand how the car reacts to various changes he made to the chassis. I think it’s going to be great working with him for the rest of the season.”

Crafton is no stranger to making calls on the pitbox. Crafton served as NASCAR Southwest Touring Series car owner and crew chief for his son, Matt Crafton who won the Series championship in 2000. Crafton has also worked with Davey Allison and Bill Elliott during his motorsports career.

Crafton takes over the rookie team which is currently 19th in the USAR ProCup Southern division championship point’s race and fifth in the rookie-of-the-year standings.
