KBIII was able to do what every driver would like to do when moving from practice to qualifying and that is to improve on his lap time. He shaved .245 sec. off his practice time for a lap of 16.745 placing him 20th in the field of 36. Shane Huffman collected his 21st career pole with a time of 16.367 sec. at 109.917 mph.
As the sun set, it was time for the Turn 4 Pizza 250. It was the tale of two races for the Aaron’s Dream Machine. In the first 125 laps, KBIII could not get the car to do what he wanted it to do and in the process lost a few positions. However, the second half of the race brought on a different story and a more aggressive Butler. A pit stop around lap 125 gave the Dream Machine new tires and a little fire to KBIII. He began to pass some cars and get himself back into a familiar place the top 20. KBIII and the Dream Team would finish the race in the 20th spot making it three top 20s in a row. Series veteran Bobby Gill picked up his 40th career victory in the USAR Hooters ProCup Series. |
