| BRISTOL MISHAP SHORTENS WALTRIP'S MONDAY |
March 19, 2005 – Atlanta, GA
04-04-2005 12:00am - Bristol, Tenn. - Michael Waltrip was preparing to pick off the 14th position on lap 108 of the 250 laps that make up the Sharpie Professional 250 at Bristol Motor Speedway on Monday morning, when the Aaron’s Monte Carlo fell victim to good ol’ short track racing.
“We had a real hot rod,” Waltrip said. “We maneuvered our way from 37th to 15th in 100 laps. I was unaware of the pile up ahead of me and the next thing I knew, the Dream Machine had rear-ended the Team Marines car in turn two. I had no warning that there was an accident in front of me and no chance to slow down. The car was very strong until that point. The radiator was torn up and there was other front end damage that was too extensive to fix.”
The next stop for the NASCAR Busch Series is Texas Motor Speedway for the O’Reilly’s 300 on Saturday, April 16. Waltrip will pilot the Aaron’s Dream Machine in hopes of his first 2005 victory. Waltrip finished 13th in last year’s race at TMS.
