Brett Butler has been quietly building his racing career over the last fiveyears alongside his brother, Ken III. Racing go-karts in 2001, the brothers learned to race hard against the competition and against each other. Since the go-kart days, Brett has moved into the ProChallenge Series and has most recently moved into the Late Model Stock Series that runs weekly at Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC. He is currently running in both series, juggling his time between the two, refining his on-track racing skills and gaining valuable seat-time behind the wheel.
Brett recently ran a ProChallenge race at the Hickory Motor Speedway that confirms his progression as an aggressive wheelman. Qualifying seventh in his No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine for the Saturday night event, Brett quickly moved up to the second position, carefully picking off the challengers ahead of him and setting his sights on the leader, No. 18 Mark Dyer.
Solidly in second place mid-way through the 50-levent, the thirdplace car had a good run coming off of turn four and bumped Butler in the left rear and spun him out. Brett stayed on the gas and kept the Dream Machine off the outside wall, but the rest of the field passed him by and he was relegated to the back of the pack.
Restarting last, Brett patiently began working his way toward the front. As the last laps counted down, Butlerbroke into the top-five but knew time was running out. Brett slid to the inside of two more cars, moving him into third place as the white flag came out. Butler closed in on the second-place car on the last lap, budidn’t have enough time to make the pass and Brett finished third, which was his best finish of the seasonthe ProChallenge cars.
Brett continues to gain experience as he competes each week and is evolving into a savvy racecar driver. His demeanor at the track reflects his strong determination to win and has earned him a reputation for driving hard among his competitors.stence.
He may be quietly building his racing career alongside his brother, but if you’re the car in front of him on Saturday night, you will be hearing from Brett Butler loud and clear.
Brett’s upcoming races will be the ProChallenge Series competing June 18 at the Cordele Motor Speedway in Cordele, GA and a 100-lap Late Model Series feature June 25 at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, NC.
Saturday night, you will be hearing from Brett Butler loud and clear.
