Aaron's Making Dreams Come True with Georgia Tech

Sunday-January 8, 2006 Aaron’s did it again Sunday afternoon on the campus of Georgia Tech at Alexander Memorial Coliseum by making Tyler Martin’s Dreams Come True. He was randomly picked from the crowd to participate in the Aaron’s Halftime Progressive Shot Challenge. He would have the opportunity to win a JVC DVD/VCR player for making a lay-up, a JVC 460 Watt 3-Disc CD Player Shelf System for making a free throw, a Philips 27” Flat Stereo TV for making a three-pointer, and a Dell Laptop Computer for making a half-court shot all in thirty seconds.

The Aaron’s Sports Marketing Team opened up their 2006 season as the game-presenting sponsor for Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets’ first ACC home game of 2006 as they played host to the 11th ranked Boston College Eagles. The Aaron’s store front inflatable would be displayed outside of main gate entrance, and fans were given the opportunity to register for a chance to win a Dream Weekend at Talladega SuperSpeedway with Aaron’s.

The first half of the game would be a low scoring affair with the Yellow Jackets battling back from an eight-point deficit to led at the half 29-26 over the BC Eagles.

At halftime, Tyler Martin from Lilburn, GA, a Georgia Tech student, would take the Aaron’s Halftime Progressive Shot Challenge. He would have 30 seconds to make four shots winning a different prize for each shot. Martin would start by making a simple lay-up for a DVD/VCR player. He would then move to the free throw line and dit on his first attempt for the 3-disc Shelf System. It would take Martintwo tries to sink the three-pointer the TV, but he was running outtime. Martin would have eight seconds to grab the rebound andget off a shot. As the crowd rooted Martin on, he made his only attempwith two seconds left on the clock, only to come up short on the shotHowever, Martin would walk away with JVC DVD/VCR player, JVC Shelf System, and a Philip 27” Flat TV not a bad days work for the Georgia Tech student.

The second half game was much like the first with no team ever really taking control. With 33.5 seconds, Jackets guard Zam Fredricks would nail a three to break the tie and all but seal the win over the #11 BC Eagles 60-58.
