USAR Pro Cup Rookie & Brother on Way to Peach State Speedway
Mooresville, NC (April 4, 2006) – It’s been awhile, but Brett Butler has been to Peach State Speedway before. So has his brother, Ken. Growing up less than an hour away, both grew up racing go-karts on the dirt track, but this time when Brett Butler goes back, he will be on a different set of wheels.
Brett Butler will be making his debut on the half-mile asphalt track in the #99 Aaron’s Dream Machine on April 8th when the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series heads down to Jefferson, GA, to compete at Peach State Speedway. His brother, Ken III, will return to the half-mile in the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine.
While not yet having the direct track experience with Peach State’s high-banked, half mile, Brett will have gained it before the series competes this coming Saturday as the team prepares to head to the track a little bit early.
“I have never been to the Peach State Speedway’s asphalt track before,” said Brett Butler. “My brother has raced there before. He raced the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine in a USAR Hooters Pro Cup Race there last year, so we are going to go test all day on Thursday down at Peach State.”
While this is his rookie year, Brett Butler already has several worthwhile starts under his belt in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series, which have helped him prepare for his return to his home state.
“We ran one race last year at Hickory (NC) and this is our third race this year,” said Brett Butler. “We have had a rough start, but every bit of seat time helps. In the first two races, we only made about 90 laps and got caught up in trouble. But this race at Peach State should go well.”
Ken Butler III is running the Pro Cup Northern Division full time this season; however, like his brother, he too plans to make the trip back to race in his home state of Georgia in the Southern Division event. Ken Butler III has made two previous starts on the Georgia short track. He walked away with two top-20 finishes in the #00 Aaron’s Dream Machine, including a 13th-place finish in the 2005 spring race at the track.
Brett Butler is excited about the opportunity to show what the #99 and #00 Aaron’s Dream Machines can do in front of friends and family.
“It’s good to be going back,” said Brett Butler. “It’s only about an hour away from home and there are going to be a lot of Aaron’s Sales and Lease Ownership employees there, because they are the sponsor of the #99 Aaron’s Dream Machine and they are also based out of Atlanta.
“We will also have a lot of family and friends there as well, so we are really looking forward to it.”
Brett Butler and Ken Butler III will race the #99 and #00 Aaron’s Dream Machines at Peach State Speedway in the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Series this Saturday, April 8th, 2006. The Naturally Fresh 250 is set to start at 7:30 p.m. The race will be televised on SPEED Channel at 5pm on Wednesday, April 12th.
