ATLANTA, GA (March 19, 2006) The new mascot for Aaron’s Sales & Lease Ownership, Lucky Dog, was unleashed at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend, making new friends and getting the word out to admirers that Everyone is a Lucky Dog at Aaron’s.
Friday night at the Craftsman Truck Series race, Lucky was hoping some of his luck would rub off on Darrell Waltrip Racings drivers David Ruetimann and Joey Miller. Lucky also played Crew Chief on top of the No. 17 trucks pit box, calling the shots along with real crew chief, Jason Overstreet. Ruetimann finished fifth and Miller finished 36th.
Saturday, Lucky and Michael Waltrip hung out by the Aaron’s Dream Machine before the race and discussed race strategy. Waltrip started 26th and worked up to the 15th midway through the race. With 40-laps to go, Waltrip and crew chief, Culley Barraclough, called for a pit stop and changed four tires and enough fuel to make it to the end, but chose to make to put on scuff tires instead of new sticker tires, hoping for a late-race caution when they could put their last set of new tires on and make a charge to the front. Unfortunately, the caution never came and Michael finished 22nd.
Hermie Sadler will start 41st for Sundays Golden Corral 500 as long as the weather will cooperate. Rain peppered the speedway Sunday morning and forecast looks wet for the remainder of the day. The 500 is scheduled for 1:30 PM EST and will be broadcast live on FOX television.
