Atlanta, GA (March 13) -- Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership is pleased to announce an agreement with Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) to run a five-race NASCAR NEXTEL Cup schedule during the 2004 season. Veteran driver Kenny Wallace has been named pilot for the No. 00 Aaron's Chevrolet for all five races.
Scheduled races are: Talladega Superspeedway on April 25, 2004, Daytona International Speedway on July 3, 2004, Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 8, 2004, Bristol Motor Speedway on August 28, 2004, and Atlanta Motor Speedway on October 31, 2004.
"Aaron's is excited to partner with Michael (Waltrip) for our NEXTEL Cup races this year." Ken Butler, President of Aaron's Sales & Lease Ownership said. "We continue to have an excellent relationship with Michael and always have tremendous confidence in his ability to field top-caliber cars and teams capable of winning at all of these tracks. We are also pleased to have Kenny back behind the wheel of the Aaron's Dream Machine. We recognize his talent and look forward to making his dream of NEXTEL Cup racing a reality again."
Wallace drove the Aaron's Chevrolet in NASCAR's premier series at Talladega Superspeedway for Michael Waltrip Racing in 2002. Wallace crossed the finish line in fifth-place, but was credited for 21st position after being penalized for going below the yellow line.
"Michael has always been a good friend to me and I am thankful that he and the people at Aaron's have chosen me to drive the Dream Machine again," Kenny Wallace said. "What a great opportunity. I hope I can meet the expectations of my car owner and sponsor by running upfront at each of these races. Talladega can't get here soon enough."
"Michael Waltrip Racing is delighted to have Kenny Wallace as our driver, and Aaron's as our sponsor in this endeavor," said Waltrip. "We hope that this limited schedule is a step toward a bigger and brighter future for MWR in NEXTEL Cup racing."
